Wind Damage

Wind damage claim help — straight-line, microburst, and derecho losses.

Wind is a named peril in every standard homeowners policy — but carriers routinely dispute the wind speed, the direction, and whether the resulting interior damage is covered. We correlate NOAA storm reports, damage patterns, and building science so the wind loss is documented, not debated.

Wind losses we handle

  • Straight-line and derecho wind events across the Plains and Midwest.
  • Microburst and monsoon wind in the Southwest.
  • Hurricane remnant wind well inland of the coast.
  • Roof, siding, fence, and detached-structure losses.
  • Wind-driven rain interior damage and mold.
  • Fallen trees and resulting structural damage.

The wind-vs-rain fight

Most homeowners policies exclude rain unless wind first creates an opening in the building envelope. Carriers use that exclusion aggressively. We document the wind-created opening — displaced shingles, torn flashing, broken windows — before the water damage is written off as maintenance.

When the amount of loss is disputed and causation is not, we invoke the policy's appraisal clause to get an independent umpire on the file.
